My friend Emily came over and our kids were “hanging out” and I had a little mini session with Sofia. Here’s a little teaser and preview for Emily!

While I’m waiting….

… I’m editing some photos. Here’s a portrait you haven’t seen from me before. I know, it’s a cat. But hey, pets are family members too!

Good to know – Expensive?

I belong to a couple of different online photo forums and one member wrote up an article on Why are Professional Photographers Expensive.   A great read whether you’re a photographer or not!  But they forgot to mention that Photographers has to pay for College, food, mortgages, gear, and retirement too.

Outside with the kids and the 85mm f1.8

I bought a new lens for portraits, although indoors I will probably still use the 35 f2 the most. My new 85mm is really sweet though! It was a little warmer today but it was still snow on the ground. My baby girl doesn’t like snow much so we didn’t stay out for long.

Color Management

My monitor is calibrated, meaning I am not using the color profiles that came with the computer. These are usually too blue and flat. In other words – you and I are not seeing the same colors and contrast of the same photo posted on the web. Since my monitor is calibrated and I also have a color profile from the printing lab that I use – the prints looks perfect. If you know how to at least set gamma and temperature on your monitor it should be Gamma 2.2 and 6500Kalvin for temp.Unfortunately, things doesn’t stop there. Depending on what browser you use as well will change how you see things. Safari seem to be at the moment the only browser that support color managed photos. The image to the left is what I would consider “good color” and would go to the print.

Click on the photo, it’s less blurry that way.
